Before you try to lock the car, walk to the hatch and manually push the hatch open handle towards the front of the car. The hatch wont lock if the handle is not fully released. You might just need some lubrication on the hatch handle.If you can press the brake pedal enough to get the engine start light to turn green, the starter is able to crank to start the engine (if the battery is charged). If it won't open, and you're sure the lever isn't the problem, pull on the lever and then give the door a couple raps and it should dislodge any buildup. (It's worked for me after a wash.) Check the cables for corrosion near the ends [green stuff in the cables, bulging insulation]. Check all the connections are clean and tight. Check voltage at starter hot vs battery hot.OK, the light has a little switch next to it with OFF-ON-DOOR on it. Just turn the light off until you need it. Left the hatch open again overnight with light off and it is dead again the next day. If it goes, the engine stops "dead", but the battery keeps the lights and accessories going, at least as long as it has a charge. The starter will turn the engine just fine (even faster than normal) but the engine itself won't start.Or, perhaps try disconnecting the battery (with the ignition key out), wait 5 - 10 minutes, and then reconnect. This might reset the computer. Yes I do have a keyless entry and I just got that working too as well once I replaced the battery too so Ill try to unlock the car just by using the key instead.
